Is Affiliate Marketing a Myth?

The search term “make money online” is one of the most searched terms in Google, so it’s no surprise that we are exposed to millions of websites promising instant riches by making money online. Unfortunately, whilst there are millions of people worldwide making a healthy income on the Internet, deciphering the scams and get-rich-schemes can be quite difficult.

To give you an example, I found a website recently showing a video of its webmaster claiming to be able to teach you how to make a passive $2,000 to $5,000 a week, passively. The problem is, I know this guy and I’m quite sure he doesn’t make anywhere near that kind of money… he’s a barista at my local Starbucks.

Conventional wisdom dictates that Affiliate Marketing is one of the biggest and most accessible money making industries. With the necessary shift in business models, vendors and merchants have discovered they can pay people like you and I to promote and sell their products online.

Affiliate Marketing is one of the biggest industries in the world – billions of dollars every year are given to marketeers. While this can be a very lucrative adventure, unless you understand the fundamentals of making money online, you will find it different to replace your income by work from home like all those who are now living their dream.

Many people would love to be able to say goodbye to their 9-to-5 job, work from the comfort of their homes, set their own work hours and have the freedom to do what they please, when they please. Affiliate Marketing appeals to all those areas of their lives that that would like to change, but how many people out there are actually living the dream? It is estimated that 20% of Marketers make 80% of the money out there on the table. This is no surprise – like any business, the best rise to the top and are able to create a business model that is not only sustainable but highly profitable.

So, can you really make money with Affiliate Marketing? Absolutely! These achievements are definitely realistic, but as with any endeavour, your success will reflect how much effort you put in. The choice is up to you and how you choose to approach the online business. If you believe you can turn a few hours into overnight success, you are wrong. With consistent action, and well structured goals and tasks, you will be on the path to success.

If you are eager to take things to the next level, the right mind set can see you making a handsome income on the Internet. Once you understand how to get into a routine that works time and time again, the only thing that will dictate how much money you can make is you. If you fall into the trap of sitting and waiting instead of taking action, you will find it extremely difficult to make any money let alone a full time income from Affiliate Marketing.

Remember, if you never quit, you can never fail.

While you are learning, you will probably find that most of your campaigns will struggle to break even. But don’t be discouraged – with every failure, you are a step closer to success, and once found, this success can be scaled, repeated and continued for many years to come.
